Malted AI is a company specializing in the development of custom AI solutions for enterprises. Their primary focus is on creating Small Language Models (SLMs) that are tailored to specific business needs. These SLMs are designed to be more efficient and cost-effective compared to traditional Large Language Models (LLMs), offering performance improvements for domain-specific tasks while reducing computational requirements and costs.
During my collaboration with the great team at Malted AI, I was entrusted with the task of designing an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) for their browser application. This project encompassed various stages, from user journey mapping and wireframing to creating high-fidelity designs, prototypes, and integrating micro animations.
The project was quite atypical compared to standard website design work. It required a deep dive into understanding the functionalities of Small Language Models (SLMs) and Large Language Models (LLMs). My objective was to translate the engineers’ needs into a minimalistic yet functional design. This design had to be intuitive not only for engineers but also for non-technical users such as sponsors, stakeholders, and CEOs.
